Street Lamp

Well here it is! MY FIRST IMAGE...This is the original photo. For my first assignment I will be turning it black and white five different ways. There are a couple of reasons I chose this photo: 1. The values of the photo have all the colors and contrast I wanted to make a really cool black and white image, there are plenty of light, middle, and dark areas which are essential in making an interesting work. 2. I like that the photos subject is timeless...you cannot tell this photo was taken in Mckenzie, TN in 2015 which is a quality that makes it very cool :) Hope everyone enjoys these!

  1. That was a good angle you had of the lightpost, nice job!

  2. There is a lot going on in the photo but still my eyes go back to lamp post every time. I love the lamp post against the blue sky and branches with the tree leaning in as if it is pointing to the lamp post. Very creative!

  3. Very nice image Jacob. I like the contrast of the concrete light pole and the bright sky and the tree in the background. Good eye for photography!

  4. I enjoy the various textures presented in your image here; the smoothness of the light compared to the hard, erratic lines of the tree and leaves. The sky in the background definitely allows for wonderful contrasts between everything in the image. I can't wait to see what you create with the options given to you in gimp.

  5. This is an interesting composition. The tree and the lamppost balance each other nicely, and there is certainly a wide variety of values and good strong contrast to play with in black and white.
